Genetic and symbiotic characterization of rhizobia nodulating legumes in a mining area in southeast Brazil

Identification and selection of nitrogen-fixing bacterial strains for inoculation into native leguminous tree species can assist in the recovery degraded areas. Additionally, from these areas are genetic resources adapted to conditions thus suitable selection. The aim this study was symbiotically genetically characterize 18 Rhizobium Bradyrhizobium genera isolated Machaerium nyctitans, Platypodium elegans, Ormosia arborea grown a nursery an iron mining area. Three experiments were conducted under axenic greenhouse. nodulation capacity evaluated by number (NN) dry matter (NDM) nodules. Symbiotic efficiency based on following parameters: SPAD index (SPAD), shoot (SDM), root (RDM), total (TDM) plants, relative (RE), nitrogen content (SNC), plant (TNC). atpD gyrB housekeeping genes nifH gene sequenced phylogenetic analysis, nodC nodD symbiotic amplified. Out strains, 16 authenticated origin. variable allowed detection differences between treatments before SDM. showed correlation with TNC, strain sp., UFLA01-839, which may represent new species, outstanding nyctitans. nifH, nodD, detected UFLA01-839.
